Debra Lynn Bonner was born on October 31, 1958, in Tacoma, Washington. She grew up with her two older brothers, Walter Jr. and Raymond, in a household that, while filled with love, faced financial hardships. These struggles shaped her early years, presenting challenges that many in similar circumstances would understand.
Despite the obstacles she encountered, Debra had dreams of a better future. She hoped to join the Navy and worked toward earning her GED. Known for her kind heart and generosity, she remained close with her parents and was always willing to help others, even as she navigated the difficulties of young adulthood.
On July 25, 1982, at just 23 years old, Debra was last seen leaving a motel on Pacific Highway South in SeaTac, Washington. She had planned to meet clients that night but never returned. Her disappearance deeply worried those who knew her, and she was reported missing soon after.
Tragically, on August 12, 1982, her life was cut short. Her body was discovered in the Green River near Kent, Washington, by a worker at a nearby slaughterhouse. An autopsy revealed that she had been strangled. Debra was the second victim recovered from the river and became known as the third identified victim of the serial murderer who would later be called the "Green River Killer."
