Derrick Todd Lee, known as the "Baton Rouge Serial Killer". His criminal activities spanned over a decade, with his first known offenses involving stalking and voyeurism. He was arrested multiple times for peeping into women's homes and watching them, behaviors that escalated into more violent crimes over time. Between 1998 and 2003, Lee was linked by DNA evidence to the murders of at least seven women in the Baton Rouge and Lafayette areas. he was 47 years old at the time of his death on January 21, 2016, due to heart disease while on death row at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola.
Lack of Forced Entry: Many victims' homes showed no signs of forced entry, suggesting Lee either gained their trust or found unsecured access points. He often took victims' cell phones, possibly to hinder communication or as trophies. Lee sometimes posed as a homeless person or used other deceptive tactics to approach his victims.
An inaccurate FBI profile initially misled investigators to search for a white male suspect. It wasn't until DNA analysis indicated the suspect was of African descent that the investigation shifted focus, eventually leading to Lee's identification and arrest.
