Richard Ramirez "The Night Stalker", California (Active: 1984–1985)

Ramirez, infamously known as the "Night Stalker," was an American serial killer who terrorized California between 1984 and 1985. His crime spree included at least 13 murders, along with numerous sexual assaults and burglaries. He expressed no remorse and was sentenced to death before dying in prison in 2013.

1. Jennie Vincow – 79 years old. On June 28, 1984, Vincow was found brutally murdered in her Los Angeles apartment. She had been stabbed repeatedly, and her throat was slashed so deeply that she was nearly decapitated.

2. Maria Hernandez and Dayle Okazaki – 22 & 34 years old. On March 17, 1985, Hernandez was attacked outside her home in Rosemead. She survived a gunshot to the face due to her keys deflecting the bullet. Inside the house, her roommate, Dayle Okazaki, was fatally shot.

3. Tsai-Lian "Veronica" Yu – 30 years old. On March 17, 1985, Tsai-Lian Yu was pulled from her car in Monterey Park and fatally shot. This took place later in the evening after the murders of Maria Hernandez & Dayle Okazaki.

4. Vincent and Maxine Zazzara – 64 & 44 years old. On March 27, 1985, Vincent was shot in his sleep at his Whittier home. His wife, Maxine was assaulted and brutally murdered, with her eyes gouged out.

5. William and Lillie Doi – 66 & 63 years old. On April 14, 1985, in Monterey Park, William was shot in his home. He managed to call 911 but ultimately died. His wife, Lillie, was sexually assaulted but survived the attack.

6. Mabel "Ma" Bell and Florence "Nettie" Lang – 83 & 81 years old. On May 29, 1985, Sisters Mabel and Florence were found in their Monrovia home. Both had been bludgeoned and bound; Bell was also electrocuted.

7. Carol Kyle – 42 years old. On May 30, 1985, In Burbank California, Kyle was sexually assaulted after Ramirez broke into her home. She survived the attack.

8. Mary Cannon – 75 years old. On July 2, 1985, Cannon was found murdered in her Arcadia home. She’d been beaten and her throat was slashed.

9. Whitney Bennett – 16 years old. On July 5, 1985, Bennett was attacked in her Sierra Madre home. She survived after being beaten with a tire iron.

10. Joyce Nelson – 61 years old. On July 7, 1985, Nelson was found murdered in her Monterey Park home, having been beaten to death.

11. Sophie Dickman – 63 years old. On July 7, 1985, In Monterey Park, Sophie Dickman was assaulted and robbed but survived the attack.

12. Lela and Maxon Needing – 66 & 68 years old. On July 20, 1985, Needing and her husband, Maxon, were attacked in their home In Glendale California. Both were shot and died from their injuries.

13. Chainarong Khovananth – 32 years old. On July 20, 1985, In Sun Valley California, Khovananth was fatally shot in his home. His wife and son were assaulted but survived.

14. Christopher and Virginia Peterson – 38 & 27 years old. On August 6, 1985, Christopher and his wife, Virginia, were shot in their home in Northridge. The both survived.

15. Elias Abowath – 35 years old. On August 8, 1985, in Diamond Bar, Abowath was fatally shot in his home. His wife was assaulted but survived.

16. Peter and Barbara Pan – 66 & 64 years old. On August 18, 1985, in San Francisco, Peter was shot and killed in his home. His wife, Barbara, was also shot but survived.

17. Bill Carns and Inez Erickson – 29 & 22 years old. On August 24, 1985, Ramirez broke into their home and shot Carns three times in the head. Carns miraculously survived but was left with permanent brain damage. Ramirez tied up, beat and sexually assaulted Erickson. He forced her to swear allegiance to Satan. Before fleeing, he told her, "Tell them the Night Stalker was here."
